Men Can Cook Chef Level: Welterweight
Yields 10 Inch Pizza, 8 Slices
Intro
Cast Iron Pan Pizza is a simple pizza at you can do in your oven at a lower temperature than you would need for other pizzas. This one takes a little time and planning, so I usually will do this on a Saturday or a Lazy Sunday night dinner. Cast Iron Pan Pizza uses a simple make-your-own dough recipe that takes some time and also is sticky. The more sticky or wet the dough is the tastier it tends to make it. Double the dough recipe and save one for later in the week. You just need to keep it refrigerated. I enjoy Cast Iron Pan Pizza and I hope you will as well.

Ingredients
- ¼ Tsp Yeast
- 1 Tsp Sugar
- ½ Cup of Warm Water
- ½ Salt
- 1 TBS Olive Oil
- 1 Cup of Flour (A little more as you kneed)
- 1 TBS Olive Oil
- 1 Tsp Italian Seasoning
- 1 Tsp Corn Meal
- 1/3 Cup of Pizza Sauce
- 1 Cup of Mozzarella Cheese
- ¼ Cup of Parmesan Cheese
- A couple of Toppings if you like!
Directions
- Add yeast & sugar to a medium to a large bowl.
- Then add in the warm water and let it bloom for 5 minutes.
- Now add in 1TBS of Olive oil, ½ tsp of Salt, & the Flour.
- Mix with a silicone spatula or by hand.
- Once properly kneaded which will not take long add in a little more oil to the top of the ball of dough and spread it around the bowl.
- Cover the bowl and place it in the refrigerator for up to a week, but at least 24 hours.
- Take a Cast Iron Skillet and cover the bottom with Olive Oil, Corn Meal, & Italian Seasoning.
- Take the dough and work it into a round flat piece to cover the bottom of the skillet.
- Place the Skillet in a warm area for 30 Minutes.
- Set the oven to broil.
- Place the skillet on the stove on medium heat. This is going to start to brown the bottom of the pizza.
- Spread the pizza sauce over the dough from edge to edge.
- You are going to cook the dough for 8-12 minutes depending on your stove. Mine took 11 minutes.
- About halfway thru the cooking time on the stove you want to add the cheese edge to edge and your toppings.
- Then take it off the stove and put it in the oven for 3 to 4 minutes to melt the cheese to your desired level.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for about 3 minutes and then use a pair of tongs to remove the pizza to a cutting board. It should come right out because of the oil and cornmeal that you put in the skillet earlier.
- Cut pizza and serve!
