Food Review: Newman’s Own Pizza

Description of Product

Ok! Now we are going to review one of my favorite things to eat…PIZZA!  I’m a fan of all types of pizza from NY to Chicago!  In this instance, we are talking about Newman’s Own Frozen Pizza.  Newman’s Pizza is a thin crust pizza that comes in a variety of toppings.  The three I have had over the past couple of years are the White Pizza, the Supreme Pizza, and the Margherita Pizza. They have several other pizzas and you can check them out through this link.

Now overall the toppings are of good quality and the crust is very excellent for a thin crust!  It really is the highlight of this pizza.  The size of the pizza is also perfect for either two people, or if you are hungry it can be a personal pizza!

The one thing lacking is Cheese. Now, this is not a major knock for me because I have found over the years that every frozen pizza I come across I feel like I need to add additional cheese.  The sauces on Newman’s Own Pizza are also quite tasty.  Just the right amount of sauce and the flavor is good.  A good solid frozen pizza!

Use of Product

For Newman’s Own Pizza they say to cook them at 425 Degrees for 11 to 13 minutes.  Now full disclosure I cook these on a stone pizza slab that was gifted to me by my favorite sister!  I put this in the oven as it warms up to temperature.  This brings the stone slab up to heat and helps to cook the crust.  Now you can use a pizza pan, but you may not get the same crisp on the bottom of the pizza.  Total up to you! Taste great both ways I’ve used both the stone and a pizza pan.

While warming up I’ll take the pizza out of the box and add around 4 to 6oz of additional cheese.  Most of the time this is Mozzarella cheese, but sometimes in the case of the Supreme Pizza, I will add NY Sharp Cheddar…go ahead judge me for the cheddar, but if you give it a try you will understand!  (Then you can leave a thank you comment below)

Once up to temperature slide the pizza in the oven and cook it for the designated time.  Now with my oven, it runs a little low, so I’ll cook it for the full 13 minutes and then broil the cheese for an additional 1 to 2 minutes watching the cheese bubble and burn over slightly in spots. (Check out my pictures)  This part is totally up to your taste, but I find it necessary.  Once completed I remove from oven place on a cutting board and slice it into 8 pieces of pizza! I’ll consume and pair it with a tasty adult beverage…aka BEER!  (Yes, you can pair with a soda or water…lame)

Closing Remarks

I’m a fan of Newman’s Own Pizza!  I really enjoy the Supreme & Margherita.  They fill my pizza need nicely.  The White Pizza is also great for when I want something just a little different from a traditional pizza.  If someone were to ask me what my top go-to frozen pizzas are this would make the top of the list.

Newman’s Own is also a great brand to support.  100% of their profits go to Charity!  You can and should check that out here on this link.  It feels really good to eat pizza and know that in a small way you are helping to save the world.

Now for a frozen pizza, it’s a little pricey and small, but I can overlook those things because I believe the taste makes up for that! (Also you are saving the world)  Quality wins out!  I recommend Newman’s Own Pizza.
