Men Can Cook Chef Level: Featherweight
Yields 8 slices of delicious French toast!
Intro
French Toast Heavy is my favorite version of French toast. What makes it heavy you ask? Well, I utilize a Heavy Cream and 3 eggs as opposed to the classic 2 eggs to make the custard. This is a great breakfast that is awesome for brunch as well. Super easy to make and you can use all types of things to make it your own. I like to use either maple syrup or on occasion I’ll use honey. Or for extra fun, I’ll throw on some blueberries! They are so good with either honey or maple syrup. How about some whipped cream on top? Yeah, go ahead that would be amazing on French Toast Heavy! Give it a shot and make it your own!
Men you can do this!
Ingredients
- 8 Slices of Bread (I like a Sourdough Thicker Cut)
- 1 Cup of Heavy Cream
- 4 TBS Butter
- 3 Large Eggs
- ¼ Tsp of salt
- ¼ Tsp Cinnamon
- ¼ Tsp of Nutmeg
Directions
- In a medium mixing bowl, we make the custard. Add in the Heavy Cream and Large Eggs.
- Add in the Salt, Cinnamon, & Nutmeg and begin to mix. You’re done mixing when it becomes frothy.
- At this point, you could dip the bread in now, but I prefer to transfer the mixture into a pie pan because it’s easier to work with its flat service.
- Dip the Bread for 30 seconds on each side and then move to a wire rack. Continue this process until all of the bread slices have been dipped.
- Let the saturated bread sit for around 5 minutes while you heat up your skillet.
- Let the skillet heat up at a medium heat setting. Melt about 1 TBS of the butter per 2 slices of Bread.
- Let them cook for about 90 seconds per side. You can serve or eat them as you cook or you can add them to another wire rack pan into an oven at 100 degrees to keep them warm until all slices are ready to go.
- Plate, Butter, Drizzle Maple Syrup, and add on a fruit topping if desired. Enjoy!
