Grilled Shrimp Burgers

Yields 4 Burgers

Intro

My first Grilling recipe and it’s not steak!?!  Crazy to me because just in the last week I’ve grilled steak like 4 times.  It’s a staple in my diet.  Grilled Shrimp Burgers, however, is a terrific recipe that I believe all of my readers will enjoy.  This recipe does require some prep work and a food processor to create them.  This one takes a little time, but if you make a double batch you can freeze the burgers for another meal later!  In this instance, I made a single batch and froze 2 burgers for later.

Why a Grilled Shrimp Burger you might be wondering?  Well, Shrimp is a great protein that is low in fat and if prepared in a recipe like this can be quite enjoyable.  Here is a link to a great article about shrimp!  Now with this recipe, I’m also going to give you the cocktail sauce that I use.  A simple 2 ingredient mix that brings great flavor and adds to the Grilled Shrimp Burger quite nicely!

Men you can do this!

Ingredients

Cocktail Sauce Ingredients

  • Cocktail Sauce
  • Horseradish

Shrimp Burger Ingredients

  • 1 LB of Shrimp
  • 1TBS of Olive Oil
  • ½ Green Bell Pepper
  • 3 small sweet peppers
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 2 small jalapenos
  • 1 tsp Ground Cumin
  • Salt & Pepper to your preference

Directions

  1. Peel and devein the shrimp.
  2. Dice up the peppers into very small pieces & mince the garlic cloves
  3. Place all the Peppers into a medium-sized bowl
  4. Put the shrimp into the food processor along with the minced garlic, cumin, salt, & pepper.
  5. Start to pulse the processor and slowly add the olive oil.
  6. Once the shrimp is mixed up with the oil and seasoning remove from the food processor and add it to the bowl with the peppers.
  7. Mix the Shrimp with everything in the bowl and form up 4 burger patties.
  8. Place the Patties on a plate or wax paper and place it in the fridge for 20 minutes or until the patties are cool and formed.  You can even place them in the freezer to really pull them together.
  9. Now I use a Weber Grill, so it takes time to prepare the coals, so it usually is ready to go by the time the shrimp patties are ready to go.
  10. Once you have the Grill starting to warm up move on to the cocktail sauce.
  11. In a small container or bowl dump in about 4 or 5 spoons full of cocktail sauce.
  12. Now add 1 spoon full of the Horseradish and mix it well together.
  13. At this point, you will taste the sauce and add more horseradish until you find your taste mix.
  14. Back to the Shrimp Burgers!  The Grill should be about a medium heat when you place the Shrimp patties on the Grill.
  15. It takes about 20 minutes to cook the burgers.  Flip them as needed and when done you can remove them from the direct heat and melt some cheese on them if you desire.
  16. Remove the Grilled Shrimp Burgers put them on buns and enjoy with your favorite toppings. (In this instance I used the cocktail sauce, cheddar cheese, & guacamole.)
