Intro

Horseradish Mustard Cream Sauce is a sauce I came up with to flavor up some of my chicken recipes.  In this instance, I put it on some Chicken Drum Sticks that I Air Fried.  The original plan for this recipe was to utilize the cream sauce in a Chicken Breast recipe.  I however in my infinite wisdom set out drumsticks to defrost from the freezer instead of the Chicken Breast.  Well here at Men food Flavor we roll with the punches, so I’ll give you a description of what I would have done and then in the recipe give you how I cooked the Air fried Chicken Drumsticks.

Horseradish Mustard Cream sauce would be prepared first while your brown rice cooks in an amazingly efficient rice cooker. You need to make 1 cup of cooked rice.  The chicken breast would have been seasoned with salt and pepper and then grilled on the Weber charcoal grill to an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit.  The cooked rice would have been the base of the plate with the grilled chicken on top.  Then the magnificent Horseradish Mustard Cream Sauce would be poured over the top of the Chicken and Rice to give the meal all of its glory.

This didn’t happen we poured the sauce over the drumsticks and had a side of steamed broccoli instead.  A great meal in itself, but again I was looking for the glory meal of grilled chicken breast and rice…Can you tell I’m still a little upset about it?

With all of that said the Horseradish Mustard Cream Sauce is amazing and really is the focus of this recipe.  The Vinegar and White Pepper really give this sauce something extra in the flavor profile that I believe you will enjoy.  Please ignore my rambling and trust me this Sauce is worth making!

Men you can do this!

Ingredients

  • 2 TBS of Butter
  • ¼ Cup of White Vinegar
  • 1/3 Cup of Horseradish Mustard
  • 2 Cups of Heavy Cream
  • Salt to taste
  • White Pepper to taste
  • 2 lbs. of Chicken (Drumsticks or Breasts)

Directions

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat melt the butter.
  2. Add in the Heavy Cream, Horseradish Mustard, & White Vinegar.
  3. Stir these up with a whisk and then add in the salt & white pepper to taste.  If the sauce is not thick enough you can add in some arrowroot to help thicken it up.  You do this by first mixing the arrowroot with some water and then adding it to the sauce so that it doesn’t clump up.
  4. Once the Sauce is seasoned and at the proper thickness.  You can then reduce the heat to low or just turn it off and heat it back up once the chicken is ready.
  5. Air fry the chicken drumsticks I find that you can cook them in the air fryer at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 25 minutes.
  6. Flip the chicken every 5 minutes to make sure it cooks evenly and the skin of the chicken gets nice and crispy.
  7. At the 20 minute mark, the chicken will be cooked, but I like the extra 5 minutes to give it crisper. This is where personal preference comes in. Make the call for yourself!
  8. Once done heat up the sauce to the desired temperature and place the chicken on a plate.
  9. Pour the sauce over the chicken and a little extra on the plate for dipping!  Enjoy and save any leftover sauce for another meal.
