Slightly buttered for taste

Lazy Man’s Bread

Men Can Cook Chef Level:  Featherweight

Yields 1 Loaf of Bread!

Intro

Lazy Man’s Bread is a basic no-knead bread recipe that produces the best tasting bread for everything.  For your morning Toast, for your turkey sandwiches, garlic bread for pasta, or even with a little butter to help mop up the gravy!  This is one of the most basic recipes I have in my back pocket and only started to make it in the past year.  If I can bake this loaf of bread then you can too!

Now below is the basic Lazy Man’s Bread, but if you are well-rested and feel like making it your own you can do some of the following to plus up your Lazy Man’s Bread.  Sub out one cup of regular flour for Wheat flour and add a TBS of Honey.  What does this do?  You now have Honey Wheat Lazy Man’s Bread!

Another option adds in some herbs and spices.  Now you have Artisan Lazy Man’s Bread that you can feed to hippies and those fools with Man Buns.  If you have 5 minutes click this link and listen to Joe Rogan talk about Man Buns it’s funny.  Also funny is this Man Buns Devolution of Man.   Please come back after you go down the rabbit hole that I lead you down.

My final variation if you are reading this at all is add in some Italian seasoning so that you can later make it into garlic bread later for Pasta.  Yes, that makes it Italian Lazy Man’s Bread.  I’m stopping now.

Men you can do this!

Ingredients

  • 3 Cups of Flour (Bread Flour or All-Purpose will work)
  • 2 TSP of Salt
  • 1 ½ Cups of Warm Water (up to 2 cups, but 1 ½ usually works)
  • 1TSP of Active Yeast
  • 1 Pint Glass

Directions

  1. Put the Active Dry Yeast and a pinch of salt into the pint glass and add in the warm water.  The warm water can just be from the tap and slightly warm to the touch.  Let it sit while you prepare the four.  This gives the yeast time to do its thing.
  2. In a large bowl add the Flour and Salt.
  3. Use a whisk to mix up the flour and the salt in the large bowl.
  4. Now add about half of the water/yeast combo that should be smelling awesome at this point.
  5. Stir the water into the flour slowly using a large spoon or spatula adding the rest of the water as you go.
  6. Continue to stir and mix until all of the flour and water form into a dough ball that is slightly sticky.
  7. Cover the bowl and place the bowl in a warm place for at least 12 hours.  I usually make this in the evening and let it sit in my oven turned off overnight.
  8. Once it has rested for the time mentioned above remove the cover and it should have about doubled in size.
  9. Preheat the oven to 450 Degrees Fahrenheit.
  10. Spray a loaf pan and then go back to your bowl.
  11. Sprinkle the top of the dough with a little flow and begin to form a loaf shape with your hands.
  12. Place the dough into the loaf pan and place it in the oven covered with aluminum foil.  Bake for 30 minutes.
  13. At the 30 minute mark remove the aluminum foil and let it bake for around 10 more minutes.  Keep an eye on it over those 10 minutes and watch it brown up.
  14. Remove the bread from the oven.  Place it on a rack to cool and if you want to butter the top of the bread to add in some flavor go ahead.
  15. Let it sit for 30 to 40 minutes and then it should be ready to go!  Congrats you now have bread!
