Intro

BBQ Sausage Shot Gun Shells are a fun Summer BBQ Appetizer that can be prepared in advance.  These are great and the bacon cooks the Shells and makes them soft.  The BBQ flavor is excellent with the Sausage & Bacon.  They are easy to make over indirect heat leaving the direct heat for other items like Burgers, Steaks, BBQ Chicken, and many other summer BBQ favorites.  Try this with different BBQ Sauces or different types of Sausage.  BBQ Sausage Shot Gun Shells are amazing you should give them a go!

Ingredients

  • 1lb of Sausage
  • 12 Slices of Bacon
  • 1 Cup of Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • 2 Large Jalapenos
  • 1/2 Cup of BBQ Sauce
  • 12 Manicotti Shells

Directions

  1. Dice the Jalapenos into small cubes and add to a large bowl.
  2. Add the Sausage to the large bowl.
  3. Add the Cheese to the large bowl.
  4. Mix all of these together.
  5. Carefully spoon stuff each of the Manicotti Shells with the Sausage, Jalapeno, and Cheese Mixture.
  6. Wrap each of the Sausage filled Manicotti Shells with a slice of Bacon.
  7. Fire up the BBQ and use indirect heat for cooking the shells.
  8. Baste the Bacon and Shells every few minutes with the BBQ Sauce.
  9. Cook with the lid on only opening to baste the Shells with the BBQ sauce.
  10. Shells should be done once the bacon is cooked and crispy.
  11. Plate and serve with your favorite dipping sauce. Some suggestions would be more of the BBQ sauce or Ranch Dressing!
